Well after looking through Skype, I noticed some of my old players. I had a chat with Full Armadyl, explained to him why it went down. I don't know if people spread rumors or whatever, but I will tell you all the story whether or not you played it. Honestly the last time I went on here was on the 20th of February.
Yea I still do remember some people from here I guess, Server and Kieran. Since I never really formally thanked you, I would like to so now. Server for all your help with trying to fix my client that did not seem to connect to the one I was hosting, I appreciate all the time you put into trying to help me with this small issue I would like to thank-you for that. Kieran for helping me out when I very first started it out, all those little things and being my Encyclopedia when I would come across a problem with my Java work, thank-you for helping me and putting your time into helping me. I would like to also thank all the people here at RSW, whether you played my server or not. I appreciated you guys coming onto Sedex and playing it whether or not you liked it. A big thank-you to the people and owners of the other servers that did recommend me (I did also recommend you back) my server to your fellow players.
Finally the real reason why Sedex went down. Basically I went on vacation for around a week or so, around my vacation time the vps company decided to have some node changes. They first sent me a email the day I left that they will have these changes, of-course I was on vacation so I could not of received it. About a day or so later they sent me another email to back-up all of my data on my vps (of-course I was on vacation). After that email, 2 day later they wiped my VPS clean with the promise of more RAM and better quality. Well of-course me dumbfounded and going onto my forums and people crying that the server is down. I go contact the vps people, and they basically said "We sent you emails it's your fault you didn't read them". Well what was I supposed to do, that day I was prepared to do my occasional back-up. But you know I was left with a clean VPS. The reason why I did not continue from my old backups is that fact they were about 1-2 months ish behind. The latest one I had (I still have it) about 860 accounts. Now the one on the vps had 2,000 accounts. Knowing full well that I cannot compensate all of these people, while re-doing a month of work and getting back all of my website files I decided I should stop. I'm sorry but I had no choices, I did not have the time and still don't to be writing lines of code hours a day I just couldn't.
To close this off I would like to say to everyone, my players, friends and forum users that I am sorry. I know I shouldn't of have even gone on vacation or I should of backed-up before going. But the past is the past and we are in the present. I would like to say Kieran, Server and RSW staff you are doing a great job with the website. I hope you continue this fine effort you put into creating RSW. If you have any questions post away, I could not find a suitable "category" so I just made the thread here you can move this if you wish. I might check on this thread occasionally but I do hope you won't flame me. Again i'm sorry for stopping Sedex but I did try my best, and I stayed non-profit
